Store Coupon Policies

Here are a few of the Stores that I frequent and their policies.  I think that walking in a store knowing exactly what you can and can't do regarding price matching and coupon usage is so important in getting the best deals!

CVS does not supply their coupon policy on their website but here it is in case you want to print it out. I do suggest having these coupon policies handy in your first few trips to the stores.  I have met a few cashiers that were not familiar with their own coupon policies and refused coupons that I knew should have been accepted. By politely showing them the policies, I usually walked out with my awesome deals!

Our coupon policy is not available on our Web site. We reserve the right to change this policy at any time. Our registers are set to allow 1 CVS coupon and 1 manufacturer coupon per item. Free coupons or “offers at the register” (OAR’s) are unearned and issued to you as a valued member of the CVS/pharmacy ExtraCare program. These coupons take the form of “open ended” coupons such as $3 off $15 or a certain dollar amount off a specific item. In any given transaction our registers will allow only one “open ended” coupon per transaction. CVS Extra Buck coupons are earned when you make a qualifying purchase. These print out instantly at the register upon reaching the threshold for the offer. You can use more than one Extra Buck coupon provided the purchase threshold has been met for each offer amount on a per-transaction basis.
In the case where a particular item is on sale for “buy one get one free” (BOGO), you are only allowed to use one manufacturer’s BOGO coupon. For instance, if Revlon lipstick is on sale for BOGO, you can use one manufacturer’s BOGO coupon. You would get both items free and pay any applicable tax. We reserve the right to limit quantities after the first purchase. If our store is running a sale for BOGO, you can use two manufacturer’s coupons for a specific dollar amount off. For example, if Revlon lipstick is on sale at our store for BOGO, you can use two $1.00 off Revlon lipstick manufacturer coupons.
CVS/pharmacy does accept manufacturers’ coupons that have been obtained from manufacturer sponsored and/or authorized Web sites. The coupon should be complete and contain a bar code that can be scanned at the register. If the coupon does not scan, the cashier should politely inform you that we cannot accept your coupon. We do not allow manual overrides at the register for coupons printed from the Internet. CVS/pharmacy will not accept offers printed from unauthorized Internet postings or reproductions, copies, or facsimiles.
We do not accept competitors’ coupons for front store items. We feel that our sales and ExtraCare program are comparable if not better than any sales or coupons offered by our competitors. We also do not accept any expired coupons, CVS or otherwise. We do not “double” or “triple” coupons.
Again, thank you for contacting us. We value your business and look forward to serving you in the future.
Sincerely,
Korrine

Let's Start Couponing! Coupon Lingo

With Sunday upon us and the new week of sales starting I wanted to prepare anyone who wanted to learn the Art of Couponing.  Here is a list of Acronyms I will be using so that you can follow along.  It may seem overwhelming now (I have to take a break from couponing once in a while too),  trust me, it will start to get easier the more you do it and soon you will wonder why you never couponed before! The amount of time and effort you put into it will really start to reflect in your bank account! And then we can start spending our money on the things we want instead of the things we need.  And if you have any questions please feel free to ask in the comments below - I'm sure a lot of people will have the same questions as you!

B1G1 - Buy One Get One

Catalina - This is a coupon printed out at the end of your transaction.  Sometimes it is for some amount of money ($/$$) off your next purchase (OYNP)  or off your next order (OYNO).

ECB - Extra Care Bucks, this is exclusive to CVS stores.  They will appear on the bottom of your receipt and they are good towards your next purchase. You will hear me talking about "rolling my ECB's"  and we will get in to that later - but it basically means, I no longer pay cash in a CVS store, I now just pay them with their own money! That's Right - you heard me!

EXP - Expires or Expiration date

Inserts - These are the coupons you find in your Sunday paper.  There are 3 major inserts: Smart Source (SS), Red Plum (RP) sometimes referred to as Valassis, and Proctor and Gamble (PG).  Every Sunday there will be a different line up.  Some Sundays you will only get the SS insert and some Sundays you might get all 3.

MIR - Mail In Rebate.  I thought these were a waste of time at first, but now I love getting these checks in the mail!

mq - Manufacturer Coupon

oop- Out Of Pocket.  This is the actual amount of money you give to the cashier after all coupons and store credits (ECB's and +UP's, Catalina's) have been used.

Rolling Catalina's (ECB's, +UP's).  This is how you save a lot of money and how you start stockpiling! Here is an example:  CVS is having a sale on toothbrushes.  They are on sale for $3 and they are printing $3 ECB's when you purchase one. I go to CVS and I buy a toothbrush for $3.  I give the cashier a $1 mq that I got from the SS in the 10/10 Sunday paper.   I pay $2 oop.  At the bottom of my receipt  I have a $3 ECB to use on my next purchase.  I go back and buy another toothbrush for $3 and this time I pay with my $3 ECB.  and if there is no limit stated on how many toothbrushes I can buy I can keep rolling my ECB's and buy as many toothbrushes as I want, and only pay $2 oop from the first transaction.  What would make this an even sweeter deal is if I had more the 1of the $1 mq to use for each transaction.  I have a $3 ECB and only owe $2oop after using a $1mq.  So then I get to buy something else for $1 and get it for free. I get a toothbrush and a pack of gum and still owe nothing and still get a $3 ECB back!

1 toothbrush  $3
1 pack of gum $1
total = $4
-$1 toothbrush mq from SS 10/10
-$3 ECB = $0 oop
FREE!

I know this sounds confusing - but I will be posting actual coupon scenarios that i do in stores and it will make much more sense then!

SCR - Single Check Rebates.  This is exclusive to Rite Aid. You are going to want to save your Rite Aid receipts and enter them on the website to get money back for qualifying purchases.   You can read all about it Here

Stacking Coupons - Here is another great way to get things on the cheap! A lot of stores will allow you to use a mq AND a store coupon.  For example, on the Target website they have printable coupons for their stores only.  You may have seen them before they have a little Target sign on them - meaning they are only intended to be used in their stores.  Target's coupon policy states that you can use a Target store coupon and a mq that you get in the paper to use towards an item.  So... lets say Target is having a sale on Charmin toilet paper for $5. There is a printable target coupon on their website for $1 off AND there is a $2 mq from the 10/3 PG insert - you can use both coupons for that 1 product and get $3 off! That is a great reason why you should know your stores coupon policies and stack those coupons if you can!!!

vv - Video Values - these are coupons exclusive to Rite Aid.  If you log onto Rite Aids web site you can watch these short little commercials  to earn store coupons.  When stacked with mq's these make for awesome deals!  They also have coupons for $/$$, ($5/$25 purchase)  that you can use with and BEFORE the rest of your coupons!  This is how to get your total oop super low!

YMMV - Your Mileage May Vary.  You will see this when there is a sale at one chain that may not be at all chains.  I know that Target's and Walmart's prices vary by store and region - so you may not find the same sale as me.  I love to call ahead when im not sure about a sale.

WYB - When You Buy

+up - These are Rite Aid's version of ECB's.  To be eligible for these store's sales and rewards money you have to sign up for their key tag rewards programs.  SO WORTH IT!

I hope this helps and I will probably be adding on to this list as we go along, so if you ever come across one of my posts and you have no idea what I'm talking about - check back here and it might help to decode it! I promise, the more you coupon, the easier it gets!

Free Toddler Welcome Kit from Beech-nut

I love free samples! I love going to the mailbox everyday and finding all sorts of goodies in there! There are tons of free samples to be had but for now,  I will just be posting things that I'm going to be requesting.  I try to go for the full size samples and things I know will come in handy - like 2 oz shampoos and conditioners for traveling through the airport with.

This particular one from Beech-Nut looks great and I bet it has a few full size items in it - perfect for the diaper bag!

Cheap Newspapers!

A few weeks ago I was able to get a free subscription to the Wall Street Journal for the hubs - free is a great deal! And the next time a great freebie on the paper comes around I'll be sure to let you know - but for now, check this site to see if  you can get a cheaper rate in your area!

Mega Swagbucks Friday!

If you don't usually search using the Swagbucks search engine, make sure you do today - they are giving away between 5-1000 Swagbucks just by surfing the web ( I do that... all.  day.   long.) and it only takes 450 Swagbucks for a $5 Gift Card to Amazon(among other prizes).  I've been saving mine up and cashing them in for Christmas presents this year! You can sign up and check it out here!

Ways to Earn Extra SwagBucks
1) Download the SwagBucks toolbar. Each morning when you login, you’ll receive Free SwagBucks. It’s typically just one, but that adds up to 30-31 free SwagBucks a month for doing basically nothing.
2) Once you download the SwagBucks toolbar, keep your eye on the “From TSG” envelope on it. I always keep mine at (0) now so I can tell when a new one pops-up. From time to time, they’ll add a free code in there worth various points. These only last a few hours so you have to be quick.
3) Take the Daily Polls. Under “Ways to Earn” select Daily Polls. There’s a question there that takes all of 10 seconds to answer and you’ll receive a SwagBuck for voting.
4) View No Obligation Offers. Under “Ways to Earn” select “Special Offers.” When that screen pops up, click on “Go Now” under “View Our No Obligation Offers and Win SwagBucks” off to the right. They’ll show you some offers, but you can simply skip past them, if they don’t interest you. After viewing a few, they’ll give you another free SwagBuck.
5) Check the “Swidget” for a Special Code. You’ll find this under “Promote” and Widget, if you want to add it to Facebook, Twitter, etc. But you can find it, for right now, on my blog on my right sidebar. Click on the “SC” button to see if there’s a Special Code at that time. They are randomly there and I’ll post about when I see there’s a code there.
6) Follow SwagBucks on Twitter, Facebook and their blog. They’ll often mention when they’ve hidden a code somewhere for Free SwagBucks.
7) Make sure you do your online searches with them, especially on Fridays. Fridays are “Mega SwagBucks Days” and your chances of winning higher amounts are increased.
These are the extra ways to earn SwagBucks that should earn you at least 100 extra SwagBucks a month. Remember, it only takes 450 SwagBucks to get a $5 Amazon Gift Card.
Not signed up for SwagBucks yet? You can sign-up and get 30 Free SwagBucks just for joining when you go through this link. You’ll earn SwagBucks for doing your online searches through them, along with finding free codes and the ways I mentioned above. It’s a great way to earn gift cards or other prizes throughout the year. They are my favorite free online program.

Thanks Coupon Geek

Welcome to The Crazy Coupon Lady

Thanks for visiting my site! My name is Jaidee. I am the mom to two beautiful kids and one rescued kitty! I started coupon shopping in March 2010.  I've learned a lot and I love to share my bargain finds!  I started posting my Frugalicious finds on Facebook (thats a mouthful) but realized I didn't want to keep bombarding all of my Facebook friends with links and pictures of shopping sites, so that's how The Crazy Coupon Lady was born! I am very passionate about saving money.  I love finding things "on the cheap" and my theory is "Cocktails are Expensive, Shampoo Shoudn't Be".  Not all of my posts will be for everyone.  There will be things on this site that some of  you wont care for, but if I can help anyone save a few bucks here or there - then it's well worth it for me! Please feel free to contact me with any questions or suggestions for this site!
